Panthers Defeat Mid-Carolina 37-11
The Batesburg-Leesville Panthers improved to 2-2 overall Friday night with a 37-11 over Mid-Carolina in Prosperity. The Panthers will host Lexington next week at Panther Stadium at 7:30.
The Panthers jumped all over the Rebels in the first quarter as they took the opening kickoff and marched 80 yards in 12 plays before Shauntrel Hendrix scored on a reverse from 23 yards out. The Collin Anderson extra point made it 7-0. On the ensuing possession Hendrix would intercept a pass and return it 50 yards for his second touchdown of the night. The kick made it 14-0. Late in the first quarter B-L would extend the lead to 20-0 as Keshoun Williams scored on a three yard quarterback keeper. The extra point was wide right with less than a minute to play in the quarter.
In the second quarter B-L would extend the lead to 27-0 on a one play drive as Williams threw a perfect strike to Tay Wilson for an 80 yard touchdown pass. Anderson’s kick was good. Mid-Carolina would get on the board with 1:01 to play in tehhalf as a Panther punt snap attempt sailed out of the end zone to make it 27-2 at the half.
In the third quarter the Rebels would add two more points early as another punt snap sailed into the end zone where the punter was tackled to make it 27-4. B-L would extend the lead to 30-4 early in the fourth quarter as Anderson connected on a 31 yard field goal. On the next possession the Panthers would add a final touchdown as Williams scored on a 10 yard run. Anderson made it 37-4 late in the game. Mid-Carolina would score a late touchdown in the final two minutes to make the final score 37-11.
Tay Wilson finished the night with 81 yards on 13 carries while Williams had 60 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Williams also was 7-10 passing for 126 yards and a touchdown.
