The Batesburg-Leesville Panthers improved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in Region 2-AA with a 33-19 win at silver Bluff. The Panthers will be at home Friday for Homecoming against the undefeated Ninety Six Wildcats.
In the first half B-L scored on their opening drive with a one yard run from Keshoun Williams to go up 6-0. After a Shauntrel Hendrix interception B-L would drive for another score, this one a one yard run from Tay Wilson. The two point conversion pass from Williams to Michael Humphrey made it 14-0. Silver bluff would answer with a quick drive to cut it to 14-6 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Bulldogs would cut the lead to 14-12 before B-L answered with a 61 yard drive with Marvin Gantt scoring on a one yard run. Collin Anderson’s extra point made it 21-12 midway through the second quarter. The Bulldogs would answer to cut the lead to 21-19 before Wilson returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was no good and B-L led 27-19 at the half.
In the second half the Panthers continued to dominate on defense as they eventually forced four turnovers and held the Bulldogs to just 225 yards on the night. B-L would add a late scoring drive in the fourth quarter with Shauntrel Hendrix scoring on a six yard run on a reverse. Wilson finished with a season career high 188 yards rushing on 29 carries. Williams passed for 112 yards, the third straight game over 100 yards passing. Wilson’s kickoff return touchdown was his second of the season and he is now averaging 31 yards per kickoff return on the season.
