Ty-Layshia West Qualifies for Nationals with a throw of 44’2″ in the Shot Put.

Ty-Layshia West had a goal of throwing 43’4″ to qualify for Nationals this season.  Last season Ty-Layshia qualified for the emerging elite throwers by throwing over 39’10” as a Freshman.  The throw today of 44’2″ is also a school record beating her own previous throw of 42’10” this year.  Ty-Layshia thrives under pressure of big

Boys and Girls Track finished 2nd Qualifying 17 athletes at the Lower State Meet.

Shandora Cheeseboro qualified in the 100 meter hurdles with a school record of 15.54.  She also qualified in the 400 meter hurdles, long jump, and triple jump.  Lauren Caughman qualified in the Pole Vault, High Jump, and the 400 meter hurdles.  Ty-Layshia West broke the school record and qualified for Nationals in the shot put

Ty-Layshia West finishes 3rd in Bojangles Classic

Out of a field of over 120 competitors Ty-Lashia finished 3rd.  The meet had over 200 different schools competing and more than 2000 total athletes.  Some athletes were from as far away as Pennsylvania and Texas.  The two girls that finished ahead of West were Carisma Holland of Seneca, SC and Veronica Fraley of Wakefield,

Boys and Girls Middle School Teams are Lexington County Champions

The Batesburg-Leesville Middle School Track and Field Teams won the Lexington County Middle School Championship.  The middle school Panthers completed their season with numerous victories and too many individual champions to list.  Batesburg-Leesville High School hosted the meet of 10 middle schools of Lexington County.  Athletes finishing in the top 3 were rewarded with medals.

Cheeseboro and West are Lexington County Champions

Shandora Cheeseboro is the Lexington County Champion in the 100 and 400 meter hurdles.  She placed 2nd in the Long and Triple Jump.  Ty-Layshia West won the shot put with a new county record of 40’2.5″ and placed 2nd in the discus.  Lauren Caughman placed in the top 8 in four events.  She finished 2nd

Oakman runs a 11.01 in the 100 meters for the first meet of the season

Jalik Oakman runs a blazing 11.01 in the 100 meters and is the only event winner for the boys team.  Other event winners were Lauren Caughman in the Pole Vault, Shandora Cheeseboro in the Long Jump, Ty-Layshia West in the Shot Put, and Ashanti Gilliam in the Discus.
